Hi all. I pretty mh just started a warrior alt, and want to build it up to tank instaes. From what ian gather, Shield Slam is a big threat generator, so obviously I'm shooting for that. Earliest Ian get it is at lvl 40 going full into Prot tree.
However, I also want Improved Thunderlap for better AoE threat generation. So....should I go into Arms first, get Improved Thunderlap, and then go down Prot for Shield Slam? Then, I would have Shield Slam at lvl 48. Or....should I go down Prot tree, get
Shield Slam at lvl 40, and then go down Arms tree for Improved Thunderlap? Just looking for adve. I was thinking of getting Improved Thunderlap first sie I believeontrolling all mobs to be morerital that a super single mob threat generator (i.e. Shield Slam). Espially at
the lower level instaes where people are still learning to play. Ofourse, I don't know squat, so that is why I'm asking for adve. Thanks
Doing either is a bad idea, and I'll tell you why. Going prot at sh low levels will ruin your warrior playing experiee. It sks, it's slow, it makes you a sitting dk against anything but another warrior and a rogue, oh, and it's slow. I suggest you go either deep arms, or deep fury with some bking arms talents (like Improved Thundelap). Now, Ian see you going, "but why SL, I
want to tank, so why would I sp for dps?". Here's theah, using someommon log, tanking as a armsfury warrior in defensive staes presents a greaterhallenge than tanking as prottion warrior in defensive staes. You have less armor, you have less talents to assist threat generation, and you lk some really great skills sh as Shield Slam. Wean all see this sks, right? On theontrary, tanking this way is harder, but it's a mh better way to learn to tank. It's a real spartan way to tank; you have no spial aids (besides Imp ), no skills that boost your threat generation, no inherent threat generatoroeffient whh may t the ales in your favor. It foes you to work with the bare minimum, spifally with the full rageost of Sunder, Revenge, shorter duration and one less blk with Shield Blk, and a single interrupt (Shield Bash). Learning to do it this way, the hard, dirty, gritty way,
will makes you learn what youan do, ways to get aroundertain problems, and help you to learn the art of improvising on the spot when things go wrong. It's invaluable experiee for when you eventually go full prottion, bause by then you know your stuff,
and you see greather possibilites for you new skills, when youan work them in, and what youan do with them. Well, my twoents anyway. Link to this Nov 21st 2007 9:43am : Logged Reply to this YJMarkSage1599 Good
